ABOUT.
I have had a lifetime of being asked about my name. Why Gypsy? My answer has always been something like this; my parent VW’d down to Ibiza in the 70s whilst my mum was pregnant with me. I was born and raised here. I grew up in an amazing creative environment, my father is also a photographer and my mother was a dress designer. I know it was a very lucky free and unique upbringing.
What inspires me,
I am an observer. If you slow down and look there is beauty everywhere. I see this beauty in all detail around me. Things that pass us by un-observed, like the basics of our daily life and mundane routine intrigue me. Through, paint, collage, sketching, writing and of course photography, being able to make what I see into something artful or compositionally beautiful inspires me. It is what gets me out of bed every day (other than getting my son to school at 8am !)
I discovered photography early on and feel very fortunate to have made it my profession for more than half of my life. I have an ability with my camera and what I see through it that comes naturally to me. It is my way of communicating and expressing myself. It is a cliche but I am happiest with a camera in my hand, it is a reason to be, you can hide behind it and you can always say something with it.
Photography is my life. I always start all client conversations with; I hope you see what I see in my photos, this is where my real skill lies.
