April was a teaching month.

I have a new home office space. A BIG high desk, lots of light, a stall or two, my computers, printers and hard drives. It oozes the desire to be creative. And I love it.

I have been yearning for so long to get back to drawing and painting and creating, something I used to spend hours doing. Something that now I can see would be labelled as a form of meditation and self care/love. And It was. It was when boredom still existed. I often try to think what stopped it: Having Lucas, work and more work and now the constant need to keep up to date with all social media channels, that lack of free time.

I have not started down this journey again- YET, but I will. For now it is useful in other ways. Over the last months I have been teaching. Throughout the winter I had a small group of home schooled kids, once a month. We went back to the basics of photography. The enthusiasm from them to get cameras in their hands and photograph, was inspiring.

This April was the real teaching month.

The highlights were guiding Hannah and new to Ibiza photographer, through a few tips and tricks for a morning. Having lovely Joelene fly in from the UK for a full, fulfilling day, ONE to ONE. We did an intense 8 hours, starting from the beginning, going all the way into the details of my photography, working your way through a wedding, to the whole ‘running it as a business’ side. We also fitted in a great little elopement shoot on the north (windy) side of the island. And of course the grand finale of the month was finally getting another workshop up and running. Three days with such an enthusiastic dynamic group from all stages of their careers and interests in photography. It took its time to get back here. It was stressful pulling it all together ( even with the help of numerous amazing Ibiza suppliers who I am forever grateful for getting involved and trusting me to be part of such a prodcution ) but it was so worth it to get to know the whole group and be reminded what an abundance of information I have stacked up ready to share.

So that’s where I have been this spring. It was a teaching month.

Meanwhile I am back at the wedding ‘admin desk’, as the season kicks off here in Ibiza. But am also busily building ideas and dates for the next workshops, one on one possibilities and small intimate photography classes at home.

The highlight is new and exciting times are ahead.
