EVA AND MARK

LAS CICADAS IBIZA

When you get to photograph in a new Ibiza venue. If you are a wedding photographer you will know what I am saying:

The excitement to be able photograph a wedding in a new venue. Especially when you have been watching it from afar, seeing how groovy it looks. Especially again when you have been photographing at the same venues on one small, though very lovely Ibiza island, for many many years. New places are exciting and ones with lots of charm even more so. It gives room for being inspired. All over again. Fot finding new spots, different lighting, another angel. It makes for new photos.

This was me when I got booked for Eva and Mark’s Ibiza wedding at Las Cicadas in Santa Gertrudis. One of the newest venues to hold weddings since the last few years.

And then it got postponed!!!

It was a long time waiting to fill my inspo boots with some new images.

So yeh Las Cicadas, is a rural holiday house just off of the main road to Santa Gertrudis. With very cool eclectic décor. I grew up with one of the owners. Its full of fun and fantastic colours and art. It’s fields are full of olive trees and it’s gardens full of cactus. Could it be a hacienda in the wild west? It has the best beautiful courtyard for any sized dinner and the best barn for late light dancing. It has become one of the hotspots for weddings now!

For Eva and Mark, as with many couples who marry in Ibiza, Ibiza was the only place they could get married (and then move to). Eva grew up partly here, holidaying every year. This makes it home.

This time the ceremony was a drive down to San Augustin Church in, no wait did I say in an old dark green FORD convertible with a V8 engine. It was WHHAAA!!!

Back at Las Cicadas drinks and canapes are up by the pool side and photos under The Fig Tree. It gets a capital F because it is big and beautiful and full. As the sun goes down we trot up the drive and into the fields behind the house to capture that favourite golden Ibiza light. It really is the best bit about photographing in Ibiza and pretty much guaranteed. An important note for Eva too.

Dinner and speeches are in the courtyard with the house as a backdrop and the twinkle of festoon lights and stars above. AND lastly dancing goes like crazy to end it all off.

That is a short story of a perfect Las Cicadas wedding. I am sure you have seen the videos!
