EVA AND MARK
LAS CICADAS IBIZA
When you get to photograph in a new Ibiza Wedding venue. If you are a wedding photographer you will know what I am saying:
The excitement to be able photograph a wedding in a new venue. Especially when you have been watching it from afar, seeing how groovy it looks. Especially again, when you have been photographing at the same venues on one small, though very lovely Ibiza island, for many many years. New wedding venues are exciting and ones with lots of charm even more so. It gives room for being inspired. All over again. For finding new photo spots, with different Ibiza lighting and new angels. It makes for new photos.
This was me when I got booked for Eva and Mark’s Ibiza wedding at Las Cicadas in Santa Gertrudis. One of the newest Wedding venues to hold weddings in the last few years.
And then it was postponed!!!
It was a long time waiting to fill my wedding inspiration boots with some new images.
So yes!! Las Cicadas, is a rural holiday house just off of the main road to Santa Gertrudis. With very cool eclectic décor. I grew up with one of the owners. Its full of fun and fantastic colour and art. It’s fields are packed with Ibiza olive trees groves and there are Cati dotted all over the house. Everywhere. Could it be a hacienda in the wild west? It has the best beautiful courtyard for any sized dinner, at night always golden with festoon lights. Don’t forget the best barn for late light dancing. Now it is one of the hotspots for the best Ibiza Weddings.
For Eva and Mark, as with many couples who marry in Ibiza, Ibiza was the only place they could get married (and then move to). Eva grew up here ( partly), holidaying every year. This makes it home.
For their ceremony we drove down to San Augustin Church in, an old dark green FORD convertible with a V8 engine. It was WHHAAA!!!
Back at Las Cicadas drinks and canapes are up by the pool side. Using the grounds and The Fig Tree for photos. It gets a capital F because it is big and beautiful and full. As the sun goes down we trot up the drive and into the fields behind the house to capture that favourite golden Ibiza light. It really is the best bit about photographing in Ibiza and pretty much guaranteed. An important note for Eva too.
Dinner and speeches were in the courtyard with the house as a backdrop and the twinkle of festoon lights and stars above. AND lastly dancing goes like crazy to end it all off.
That is a short story of a perfect Las Cicadas wedding. I am sure you have seen the videos!
