Mallorca wedding at Finca Sa Casa Bona

I photographed a Mallorca wedding.

It was a breathe of fresh air to get off of Ibiza and photograph (another, though I have not for a while) Mallorca wedding. When you have photographed in one place for 20 years and know most of the venues inside out, it always opens a creative challenge ( refreshingly) to be able to photograph in a different location. You set foot in with a little trepidation and refreshing nerves to find and look at everything in a new way.

I was the digital photographer for this wedding, making me the second to Philipp Timpert, who photographs all on analogue film. His style is to use very short depth of fields and so that was my challenge: 50mm at 1.4/1.6, 24-70mm at 2.8 and 85mm at 1.4.

It was fun and interesting to watch someone else work hard and for me to not have ALL the responsibility.

Main take home; REFRESHING! My message to myself: Don’t stop finding ways to expand my skill. Make your own challenges to push your self. Get out of your easy comfort zone. Don’t let your ego get in your way. Open your self to new opportunities. Because I do like to be back in my own bed after work, one of the reasons I never became a full fledged destination wedding photographer ( there are more, but that’s another story) and thank you Faith for the comfy bed for the night.
